Willsbro sale sees new dairy record price

Wednesday’s (14 April) production sale of Holsteins from the Willsbro Holstein herd of the Wills family, Wadebridge, saw a new UK record set for a dairy animal, with Willsbro Emilyann selling for 90,000gns.

This October 2009-born heifer calf is an Ensenada Taboo Planet daughter out of Wabash-Way Emilyann, a VG88 classified dam.

She was the highest genomic-index heifer in the sale with an index of 2429, had been the subject of intense speculation – and didn’t disappoint.

Willsbro Emilyann is the top genomic-index heifer in Europe and one of the top 30 in the world. She sold to Ponderosa Holstein herd, Spain.

This is the second-highest price ever paid at auction in the UK for a bovine, the record standing at 100,000gns for Limousin bull Haltcliffe Vermount.
