Llandovery Texels peak at 440gns

Ringsiders at the sale of in-lamb ewes held by the South Wales Texel Breeders Association at Llandovery favoured entries from two of the south west’s leading flocks which left females from the Loosebeare and Peacehay consignments at the top of the price list.

The Quick family from Crediton, Devon drew the top bid for a gimmer from their Loosebeare flock sired by Clougher Judge. The gimmer – bought by W H Williams and Son, Bridgend, Glamorgan at 440gns – is carrying twins to Glenside Nosey Parker who is full brother to the 25,000gns Glenside King that was reserve champion at Lanark and male champion at the Royal Welsh. King is a son of the 120,000gns Loosebeare Imp.

Another gimmer from Loosebeare – sired by Douganhill Lonestar – made  340gns to R Whitton, Newcastle Emlyn. She is also carrying twins to Nosey Parker.

The Williams family also paid 330gns for another gimmer by Loosebeare Knight Rider carrying twins to Nosey Parker.

F H Chave and Son, Wellington. Somerset achieved a best of 300gns when a gimmer from their Peacehay flock consignment went to S M Thomas, Llandeilo. The gimmer is by Douganhill Lonestar and was carrying triplets to Cennen Magnum.
