Lodgic Herd dispersal sees top price of 3100gns

Strong demand for dairy cattle was apparent at the dispersal sale of Jeff and Alison Ellwood’s Lodgic Herd at Lowick, Ulverston, Cumbria, with a top price of 3100gns going to the second calver, Lodgic Gayelass 15.

 

This VG 87 cow is a daughter of Ladino Park Talent and can be traced back to Messrs Dennison’s highly rated Denmire herd. She sold to Ted Fearon and family, Cartmel.

 

Lodgic Heather 9, sold for the next best price of 2800gns. This prize winning, second calver by Comestar Stormatic, sold to Keith Pattinson and Son, Ellengrove.

 

At the next best money, was the fresh second calver, Lodgic Echo, selling for 2750gns to AM Bunby from Boncath, Ceredigion. This one was another Talent daughter from a Payhembury dam that traces to Crudwell and Hayleys.

 

Two entries sold for the next best price of 2700gns. The first of which was Lodgic Musk 19, a Gillette Brilea FBI daughter from the Musk family, due again in September to Gillette Final Cut.

 

This one sold to A L Dean and Son, Threshfield, Skipton who took a number of the best young cows on the day.

 

At the same money, was the highest price heifer of the day, Lodgic Sunlight 61. She is by Shottle and out of an Excellent dam and was purchased by W W and D Boow, Dunnerdale.

 

Selling for 2600gns, were another two entries. The first of which was Lodgic Norma 20 which sold to A L Dean and Son, Threshfield. The second was Lodgic Sunlight 62, bought by M Bell and Son, Semerdale.

 

Six entries went for the next best money of 2500gns. These included the VG 88 cow, Lodgic Pansy 6, which sold to N E and E M Bargh, Osbar.

 

Also at this money was Lodgic Alma 18, selling to Ted Fearon and Lodgic Gayelass 14, which went to A L Dean and Son, Threshfield.
