Maiden heifer tops Blonde Autumn Sale at Carlisle
Topping trade at the British Blonde Autumn Show and Sale was Mr CR Fawcett’s supreme champion maiden heifer, Kissthorn Izzy from Sand Hutton, York. Sired by Shanvally Fletcher and out of Thistlegrove Pat, she won the female championship in the pre-sale show. She was knocked down at 4,500gns to W Hall, Stranraer, Dumfries and Galloway.
Next at 4,200gns was the November-2013 born bull, Gledney Hulk, consigned by Messrs M and C Savage, Ballynahinch, Co Down. Third prize in his class, Hulk was also reserve male champion at Blamoral Show this year. Sired by Drumraymond Grafter and out of Gledney Britney, buyer was W and M Seels, Doncaster, South Yorkshire.
Back to the females, the next two maiden heifers in the ring realised 4,000gns a piece, both purchased again by W Hall, new owner of the top priced lot.
The first was reserve overall female champion Shanvally Irene. Consigned by Savage Brothers and Sons, Ballynahinch, Co Down, she is sired by Fronfedw Arawn and out of homebred Shanvally Florence.
The second at this money was another consignment from Savage Brothers and Sons. Shanvally Idaho is sired by Seaview Barney and out of Murray Duchess.
The top price from three herd dispersals of 3,900gns came for Hallfield Flamenco of the Baileys Herd, Austwick, Via Lancaster. Bred by P Weightman and Sons, she is sired by Blackwater Ainsley and out of homebred Hallfield Theresa. She sold PD’d in–calf to Kinaston Carlos with her May-born bull calf, Baileys James, at foot. Buyer was TH Harrison and Sons, Penrith, Cumbria.
Two first prize bulls then sold at 3,500gns a piece. The first, Allerston Hamilton, sired by Allerston Eli and out of Bilsington Victoria, won the male championship at the Great Yorkshire Show this year. Consigned by Mr RT Ward, Pickering, North Yorkshire, he was bought by was WJ Scott, Hexham, Northumberland.
The next at the same money was Messrs G and A Hamilton’s Ramrig Iron Duke, Duns, Berwickshire. This reserve overall male champion is sired by Hallfield Destiny and out of homebred Ramrig Evening. Buyer was Brisbane Glen Estate, West Kilbride, Ayrshire.
Top price from the Overton and Newpark Herds was 2,800gns for a cow and calf outfit. Broomley Ellen, bred by J and M Gibb is sired by Millend Voodoo and out of Broomley Belinda. She sold in-calf to Overton Evan for 1,400gns to R Johnston, Clogher, Co Tyrone. Her February-born heifer calf, Newpark Jeni, went to BJ and JG Hodgson, Egremont, Cumbria, also for 1,400gns.
Averages: Six bulls, £3,272.50; four maiden heifers, £3,596.25.
