Mixed show of hoggs forward at Lockerbie sale

At Lockerbie Mart’s weekly sale of Primestock more than 220 prime hoggs and 18 cast cows were sold.

Prime Sheep: A mixed show of prime hoggs were forward, with only the well finished hoggs holding their value. Top price went to Messrs J Rogerson and Son of Wardpark with 41kg Texel which sold at £93. Top price a kilo went to Beltex and Texel from Mr J S Forrest of Supplebank Farm and Messrs J Rogerson of Wardpark.

Cast Cows: Cast cows were dear selling to £1,205 and £1,145 for British Friesian from Messrs J R Freeman and Son of Clarencefield. Galloway bulls to £1,075 from Messrs D Moffat and Son of Bordesbeck. More cows are required to satisfied demand.
