Montbeliarde cattle sell to £2,350gns at Sedgemoor sale
Crowds from all over the South of England and Wales flocked to Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s dairy ring at Sedgemoor Auction Centre when the Loder family from Chard dispersed their Montbelliarde and MRI crossbred dairy herd.
The dearest trade ever seen for Montbeliarde X cattle saw no less than 22 lots sold for more than £2,000 to a top of £2,350 gns on four occasions for autumn calved Montbeliarde x heifers by Pernan, Redan and Micmac.
The highest priced cow of the day was the September second calver by Pernan at 2,020 gns. Lordswood Farms who provided the foundation stock for the herd and who bred the Bull Lordswood Bispo widely used, purchased a daughter for 2,150 gns.
Incalf heifers due September to the Bazadaise sold to 2,000 and 1,980 gns for Triomphe and Tricastin daughters. Bulling heifers by Redan, Triomphe and Lordswood Bispo sold to £1,000 gns with yearlings to 780gns.
The six year old Pedigree British Blue Stock Bull ‘Ridge Dean Buster’ sold for 2,250 gns.
