New guide to tackle undergrazing

A NEW free guide which aims to address the problem of undergrazing in the East of England has been published by the Undergrazing Project Partnership.
The partnership is a collaborative body of farming, environmental and rural business organisations.
“Undergrazing is a serious problem in the East of England,” explained Caroline Cranbrook, who chairs the partnership and is president of the Suffolk branch of the Country Land and Business Association.
“As farming businesses change and adapt, cattle and sheep are no longer located in the traditional grazing areas of this region.
“The result is that DEFRA is getting increasing requests for both grazing land and for animals to graze it,” Lady Cranbrook said.
The guide is designed to help farmers find relevant information about both – but it goes much further, aid Lady Cranbrook.
“If you are a farmer, grazier or landowner, it will provide you with a range of organisations and information to help you, all keyed to the eastern region.”
