No orchard ban on sheep grazing
THE FOOD Standards Agency has dismissed claims that it wants to ban the grazing of sheep in orchards.
The announcement follows speculation in the press that there will be a ban on sheep grazing sheep in fruit orchards because of fears of contamination from animal faeces.
The FSA has been considering various options since it was revealed that consumers in America contracted E.coli from unpasteurised apple juice.
The cause was later tracked to animal droppings.
But a statement released by the food safety watchdog on Friday (Jul 9) said: “The FSA has no intention of banning the grazing of sheep in orchards.”
