Northern Lights Texel Sale tops at 2,500gns

Prices peaked at 2,500gns at last week’s Northern Lights Sale of in-lamb females at Hilltown, Northern Ireland, with the top call of the day going to a gimmer from Jim Wilson’s Blackstown flock.

This sale topper at 2,500gns was WWB1300469, a Teiglum Target daughter out of a dam by Blackstown Rambo and going back to the noted Clynnog Joe Tex. She sold carrying to Springhill V Tech and was the pick of Ronan Gallagher, Co Sligo.

Next to follow at 2,100gns was the best of the sale from Texel Society president Henry Gamble’s Springwell flock. This was GRS1301215, a Cambwell Terminator daughter out of a dam by Derryvore Ranger and in-lamb to Eglur Viscount. She was knocked down to Andrew Fyffe for the Fairywater flock.

Then making 1,900gns was the Currie family’s best, CJT1300555, an ET bred Glenside Topgun daughter. She’s out of a dam by Gruig Outlaw and sold in-lamb to 2013 Lanark champion Tophill Union Jack. Taking this one home was Adrian Liggett for the Corbo flock, Omagh.

After that came a call of 1,700gns for the very next lot in, a full ET sister to the 1,900gns gimmer. She sold in-lamb to the 42,000gns Tullylagan Tonka and was bought by Mr Williamson, Omagh.

Four lots then shared the next best price of 1,600gns, with the first of these being from Jim Wilson’s Blackstown flock. This was a Springhill Twenty Twelve daughter out of a dam by Millcomb Powerhouse and in-lamb to Sprinhill V Tech. She was the choice of Alistair Breen, Enniskillen, for the Drumderg flock.

The second at 1,600gns was another from Henry Gamble’s Springwell pen. This was GRS1301206, a Drumgooland Tattoo daughter out of a dam by Meadowvale Paorama and in-lamb to Eglur Viscount. She sold to Jim Wilson, Blackstown.

Following her at the same money was Braehead gimmer from David Warwick. This was QDA1300342, a Cornerstone Tin Tin daughter out of a dam by Milestonehill O’Gara and going back to Cornerstone Isaac. She sold in-lamb to Strathbogie Uno and headed to the Drumderg flock with Alistair Breen.

The final 1,600gns bid came from Adrian Liggett when he bought a Drumgooland Tattoo daughter from Henry Gamble. This was GRS1301278 and is out of a Kilcoan Popeye daughter. She sold carrying to Knap Vogue.

Averages: 74 females, £747.
