Pig producers should take advantage of the practical information on offer at this year’s Pig & Poultry LIVE, according to Adam Henson, BBC farming correspondent and industry champion.
“This progressive supply chain event will provide real practical information to take back to your business” says Mr Henson, who will be chair of the event’s morning debate.
Organised by the Royal Agricultural Society of England, in partnership with ABN, Pig & Poultry LIVE will take place on 11 May at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire.
In addition to a debate looking at consumer perceptions, the event’s workshop programme will cover technical pig, poultry and business issues.
Three top industry experts have been brought together in a BPEX-sponsored workshop to give their views on how to secure the future of the two-tonne sow.
Boehringer Ingelheim’s David Strachan will kick off the session looking at what the future holds for drug use in pigs and how to maintain herd health. Given continuing raw material volatility, Phil Baynes, managing director of Baynes Nutrition, will ask what alternatives could be fed to pigs in the next 10 years.
Finally, targeting a subject sure to raise a lively debate, Mark Wilson from Vion considers whether new technology will or should drive a move away from traditional grading methods.
