Also to £180 for White Faced Welsh Mule hoggs with Texel x lambs at foot from TA Swancott and Son, The Lawn. Continental x hoggs with lambs to £169 for Texel x hoggs with Texel x lambs at foot from R P Morgan & Son, The Farm.
Another tremendous cattle trade followed being sharper on the younger sorts. Store steers averaged 235.90 pence per kilo and £990.14 per head selling to 319 pence per kilo for a 470 kilo Limousin x steer to £1,500 also being top price per head from P W Jones, Dolassey.
Also to 304 pence per kilo for a 460 kilo Limousin x steer to £1400 and 300 pence per kilo for a 500 kilo Limousin x steer making £1,500 again from P W Jones, Dolassey. 296 pence per kilo for two 345 kilo Limousin x steers to £1,020 per head from H J and I W Rees, Faidrefach.
Other top prices per head include £1,360 for a 525kg Limousin x steer from H G Rees, Hiriaeth, £1,350 per head for three 546 kilo Charolais x steers from E Richards and Sons, Lower Bailey and a 605kg Charolais x steer from J H Morris and Sons, Lower Spoad.
Store heifers averaged 213.03 pence per kilo and £842.51 per head selling to 284 pence per kilo for a 370 kilo Limousin x heifer to £1050 from P W Jones, Dolassey
A quality entry of cows with calves at foot averaged £1,700 and sold to £2,300 on two occasions for Limousin x cows with Limousin x calves at foot from E and T Powell, Gwernyarllwydd. Also at £2,000 for a Shorthorn x cow with Simmental x calf at foot from H W Venables, Penygelly.
