100 millionth chick goes to Friday’s

Egg producer/packer Friday’s was the recipient of layer genetics company Lohmann GB’s 100 millionth chick.

As Poultry World reported last month, Lohmann GB’s hatching operation has grown steadily since 2008. Despite not knowing exactly which chick was the 100 millionth, the firm is confident it went to the Kent-based producer.

Since July 2012, Friday’s has exclusively used Lohmann Brown Classic and Lohmann Brown Lite breeds in its free-range and colony production systems.

David Scott, managing director of Lohmann GB, said that breeding its 100 millionth chick was a “significant landmark”.
