Egg producers know the score

So Germany has lifted the FIFA World Cup – again. But theirs is not the only footballing triumph in recent weeks. The Forager has learned of another.

It has emerged that egg producers EWH Moore Partnership from Crewe in Cheshire have won the Stoke City Football Team Prediction Challenge Cup – an annual competition between themselves and Country Fresh Pullets.

This is the fifth year the two businesses have competed for this cup, with the Moores currently leading three-two. Their task is to guess the total number of points that Stoke will pick up during the season – 50 in 2013/14, a new club record.

“This was the closest fought battle with the outcome being decided ten minutes from the end of the last game of the season,” said CFPs Steve Carlyle. “We canvas far and wide in the layer industry to formulate these predictions, but obviously need to try harder this season to equal the score.”
