Salmonella cake?

It’s the start of January – almost the longest time to wait until Christmas. The turkeys and geese are free-ranging in the sky, and all the strange stories have gone with them.

One last Christmas Forager then. London-based Sarah Hardy Cakes baked this raw turkey cake for the festive season.


According to creator Sarah Harding, the skin is a marzipan and butter concoction, and the “flesh” is in fact an orange and rum spice cake. It was named “Mr Matthews”.

“I made it to freak out my family,” she told the Daily Mail. “The most unappealing thing I could think of was to give them raw meat.”
