IEC joins forces with the UN

The International Egg Commission has formed an official working partnership with the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization, giving the egg industry has an official voice within the UN’s systems.

“The FAO is a United Nations organisation that is dedicated to achieving food security for all,” said IEC director general, Julian Madeley. “It is committed to making sure that people throughout the world have regular access to sufficient, high-quality food.

“This is something that is very close to our industry’s heart. The IEC and all our members are fully committed to helping to feed the world’s growing population and we are extremely pleased to be working with the UN, and specifically the FAO, to help to achieve this.”

The IEC is the only organisation representing the egg industry internationally. It has members in more than 55 countries, in Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, South America and Australia.

It holds conferences twice a year, where members come together to share best practice and pledge their combined commitment to the industry’s corporate and social responsibility. The next IEC conference is being held in Venice, 25-27 March. For more information, go to the International Egg Commission website
