Putting up four new sheds under two roofs took just seven months in 2010 at a Shropshire broiler farm. Poultry World tells the story



When it comes to putting up a new building, Alan and Charles Simpson are not ones to hang around.


The father-and-son team have expanded their poultry enterprise steadily since they switched from pullet rearing to broiler production in 1979 at Lower Heath Farm in Shropshire.


From 50,000 birds in two sheds they now produce 470,000 birds a crop in 13 sheds, which include four of the most technically-advanced units in the country.


There is also a real emphasis on DIY, with an extensive workshop and enough spare parts to deal with just about any eventuality.
