Lakes Egg Company scoops double win

The Lakes Free Range Egg Company has won two prestigious titles at this year’s Business in the Community’s (BITC) awards.
Now in their 15th year, the BITC awards recognise the powerful and positive role business plays in society.
BITC president the Prince of Wales was at the awards ceremony when Lakes scooped the Anglo American Responsible Supply Chain award for demonstrating innovation and impact across the supply chain, and leading best practice through their initiative “sustainable, responsible farming for a healthier food chain”.
Their second award of the night – the Dairy Crest Rural Action Award – was presented to them in recognition of the support they offer their local community through their local farmer suppliers.
Leading the judging panel for the Dairy Crest award, Mike Sheldon, of Dairy Crest, said: “Lakes Free Range Egg Company is an outstanding example of a sustainable and innovative business, delivering growth for the benefit of all stakeholders through passionate leadership.”
Receiving the two awards, David Brass, chief executive, said: “BITC’s Awards for Excellence are the UK’s most influential independent peer-assessed corporate responsibility awards. It gives us and our industry a benchmark against many of the leading Blue Chip organisations that work with BITC.
“To be shortlisted for the national finals twice was a great achievement in itself. To win twice in one evening was a huge shock, but great recognition for our whole team.”
