Lakes Free Range Egg Company wins Big Tick award
Egg producer packer the Lakes Free Range Egg Company has been awarded a Big Tick award for its responsible approach to business.
The award was in the sustainable products and services category of Business in the Community’s (BITC) responsible business awards for the north-west region.
In particular, the judges were impressed by the company’s achievement of sending zero waste to landfill, and the fact it will operate a carbon-neutral packing centre later this year.

From a total of 413 entries, the Lakes was the only food producer to be recognised in the sustainability category.
The company will now compete for the overall national title at a ceremony to be held in London on 8 July.
“It’s very flattering to be chosen as a winner and as a national finalist in a category that focuses on sustainability,” said chief executive David Brass.
“From day one we have maintained a responsible approach to business, which has helped us create a sustainable supply chain and develop ethical, premium products that our retail customers and UK consumers are looking for.”
BITC area director Raksha Pattni presented the award to Glyn Goddard from the Lakes Free Range Egg Company (pictured).
