Mac’s Farm eggs signed up by Tesco

East Sussex organic egg producer Suzie Macmillan is launching her Mac’s Farm brand into a number of Tesco stores across the region via packer Noble Foods,

The Mac’s Farm is part of the larger Grassington Rangers group set up by free-range pioneer Peter Barton, who established his first enterprise in 1985, converting to organic in 1997.

The eggs will be available in packs of six and will be launched at an introductory price of £1.95 until 3 June, after which they will retail at about £2.20.

“The welfare of our hens is at the heart of what we do – and we take that view beyond the laying lifecycle and the boundary of our farm gate,” said Mrs Macmillan, who was a finalist in last year’s Farmers Weekly Poultry Farmer of the Year award.

The Mac’s Farm is open every day to the public so people can see for themselves the high welfare conditions in which the hens are farmed.

Caroline Beatty, brand manager at Noble Foods said: “The values of this outstanding family-run business perfectly complement and reinforce our own.

“The Mac’s are hugely passionate about what they do and their family ethos certainly highlights this. We’re really pleased to be working with them to launch this product into Tesco stores and look forward to the reaction from their customers.”
