Two ‘Big Ticks’ for the Lakes Egg Company

The Lakes Free Range Egg Company has won two Big Tick Awards from the charity Business in the Community in recognition of its responsible business practices and its contribution to the local community.

The awards compromise of two categories – one for rural action and one for sustainable supply chains – and will be presented at Business in the Community’s North West Event on 24 June.

“We believe it is vital to behave responsibly and integrate a sustained approach to corporate responsibility into our business strategy,” said chief executive David Brass. “This is a philosophy we adopted from day one and is something we continuously develop, working closely with retailers like Morrison’s on their Natures Nest ethical brand, and with McDonald’s as one of their Flagship Farms.”

The Lakes has also been shortlisted for the national finals of the Big Tick Awards, where it will be up against Blue Chip companies like Jordon Ryveta, Heineken UK and United Utilities. The results will be revealed at a gala event on 27 June.

Business in the Community is a business-led charity with more than 850 member companies, focused on driving responsible business practice.
