Prime cattle trade returning to average at Hexham

With 95 cattle forward at Hexham and Northern Marts yesterday, more buyers were present for prime cattle resulting in a sharper trade returning average prices to 126.3p/kg and £746.54 a head. OTM animals averaged 83.9p/kg (£582.33).

Topping the price trade were a bunch of Limousin heifers selling for 139.5p/kg, with both Charolais and Blonde cross heifers selling for 133.5p/kg.

More buyers were on the scene for prime hoggs, but numbers were short of requirments. All classes met sharp trade with heavy lambs selling to £54.50 for Texels from Lingey Field
