Quick feed for growth

LAMBS FROM ewes fed a specialist mineral and energy supplement suckle quicker and grow faster in the first six weeks of life, according to a trial at the Royal Agricultural College, Glos.

Lambs from ewes fed concentrates including Suckle n” Grow were seven minutes faster to suckle than those from ewes fed concentrates containing a standard pre-mix, says Cara Freeston-Smith of Frank Wright, which markets the product.

“Additionally, over the first six weeks lambs from the Suckle n” Grow fed ewes gained an extra 49g a day, equating to about 2kg of bodyweight over the six weeks.”
