Rawburn sells females for £22,000
John Elliot, Rawburn, has sold a brace of females for a total of £22,000 to new Aberdeen-Angus breeder, Neil Ainsworth, Blackburn.
First choice, and selling for a reported £12,000 was Rawburn Duchess Prairielane, a 13 month old heifer which is the first daughter of Rawburn Enigma to sell in the UK. Her dam, the result of the extensive ET programme at Rawburn, goes back to the high performance lines of the Prarielane herd, Manitoba, Canada. She is in the top 1% for all growth traits and has a TSI of +41.
Meanwhile, selling for £10,000 was five year old cow Rawburn Ebony and her Rawburn Lord Ross sired calf.
Ebony is an ET daughter of USA sire Hoff Limited Edition and is out of Hoff Ebony, an ET donor cow owned by Rawburn in the USA.
Sure that his new charges will stand him in good stead Mr Ainsworth says it is apparent that most of the top performance and high selling cattle in the UK are products of the cross between the line bred Prairielane and Hoff genetics of North America, and the high performance sires at Rawburn.
The cattle are currently under the care of Richard and Carol Rettie, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see them on the show circuit later this year.
