Rouge reach 880gns top at Carlisle sale
Rouge ram trade hit a peak of 880gns at Carlisle last Friday when David Jane sold a shearling ram by Garlic Footprint and out of a homebred dam to J Charlton and Sons, Cleator Moor, Cumbria.
Close behind at 800gns was one from Percy Tait’s Knighton flock, Worcester. This son of a homebred ram is out of Happy Home Antoinette and sold to a S A and V L Morrie, Craven Arms, Shropshire. Next best call was a 710gns bid for oen from Messrs LLoyd and Lee’s Romer flock, Oswestry. This Elagh Action Man son is out of Wrights Bountiful and sold to J S and J O Dodd, Temple Sowerby, Penrith.
On the same day the leading price in David Jane’s Broadwood flock dispersal was a 500gns bid for the flock’s show ewe Broadwood Evita. This one is a daughter of Carscreugh Kingpin and out of Broadwood Carol. She sold to J Refern, Leek, Staffordshire. And Mr Redfern was responsible for the next two top calls as well, paying 480gns for Broadwood Forgetmenot, a Broadwood Dynamo daughter, and 420gns for Broadwood Hilda, a shearling ewe by French sire Red Alert.
