Royal Highland Show 2015: Sheep results
Interbreed
In the sheep lines it was a Charollais shearling ram that scooped the interbreed trophy for Russell Gray who runs 30 pedigree Charollais ewes at Lanark. This stock tup by Banwy Ninja was bought last year for 550gns from Jeremy Price at Oakchurch Farm, Herefordshire.
Judge Ron Mackenzie from the Black Isle, described his champion as ‘outstanding’. He said: “I liked the Charollais when he was standing and he moved so well. He just looked the part. The reserve was a tight ewe, but the Charollais just had the power, presence and determination.”
In reserve was the two crop, home-bred Blackface ewe from Allan Wight, Biggar. This ewe had a crop of three lambs this year, but is now only nursing two. This is the third Blackface championship the Wight family have won at the Highland Show.
This ewe is by the 90,000gns Dalchirla ram with the dam by a homebred sire called Big Al.
