Welsh Winter Fair 2012: Baby beef championship
Following on from their success at the EnglishWinter Fair was Phil and Sharon Sellers, from Lincolnshire, who took the babybeef championship with British Blue cross heifer Miss Dior. Bred by WendyMorgan, Carmarthenshire, she was bought privately earlier this summer and issired by the British Blue bull Bluestone Cracker. She weighed in at 413kg.
In reserve stood Flashy Lassey, a nine-month-oldheifer, bred and exhibited by Colin and Wendy Phillips.
This one, which is sired by the Lim bullSoleil, weighed in at 415kg. Her dam Classy Lassey was originally bought byElfed Williams from Ireland two years ago and is prolific having won 13championships.
Judge, Phillip Price, from Brecon said his championand reserve were two “very similar” heifers, but gave it to Miss Dior who hesaid was more mature than the heifer in reserve place.
“She is stylish and has an excellent top line andunderline,” he commented.
