Simmental trade peaks at 4,800gns at Carlisle

A high of 4,800gns was realised at the autumn show of sale of Simmental cattle,

Carlisle.

 

Sale leader was The Boddington Estate’s Sterling Dumfries 12. He is by the 10,000gns Sterling Nelson 2nd son out of Sterling Adels Naomi took second prize in its class. He was purchased by M Ward, Carnwath, Lanark.

 

Second best at 4,000gns was Jim and Patricia Goldie’s first prize bull Newbiemains Dino 12, from their Newbiemains herd, Annan, Dumfriesshire. Sired by Blackford Albatross he is out of the Woodhall Syma daughter Newbiemains Bam Bam and has a TSI of +59 and an SRI of +66.

He found a new home with GD Roberts, Garndolbenmaen, Gwynedd.

 

Selling at 2,800gns to MT Bowran, Dumfries, was Grangewood Doller 12 (TSI _59 SRI +66) from AS and YA Leedham, Grangewood, Netherseal. Sired by Omorga Alonso 09 who was purchased for 9,500gns, he is out of Grangewood Beatrice whose granddam is Kilbride Farm Eunice.

 

The same day marked the dispersal sales of JB and EJ Peile’s Pasturehouse Herd, Wigton and a draft sale from Mr CJG Clarke’s Burghbridge herd, Otley.

 

Leading trade at 3,300gns for the Pasturehouse herd was Pasturehouse Marianna 2nd. Sired by Harestone Hercules she is out of Midhope Marianna. She was purachsed by JC Innes and Sons, Aberdeen.

 

Meanwhile sale star for the Burghbridge herd was Burghbridge Emerald 2nd. She sold to TJ Lee and Son, Hexham, Northumberland for 3,400gns with her bull calf by Horsfordmanor Bonus at foot. Sired by Strathisla Popeye she is out of the Brinkton Major daughter Burghbridge Emerald.

 

Averages: Five bulls, £3,255.

Pasturehouse herd: 10 cows and heifers, £2026.50; six maiden heifers, £2187.50.

Burghbridge herd: 11 cows and heifers, £2329.09.
