Solid trade for store lambs and cattle at Cumberland and Dumfriesshire mart

 

An entry of 239 store and breeding cattle sold to a top price of £1,120 a head at Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers’ mart.

 

Sale leader was an Angus bullock from E and DE Horn, Slack House. Next at £1,090 were British Blue heifers from KW Tomlinson and Son.

 

At the same money was two Angus bullocks from High Plains, closely followed by Limousin bullocks from Blakelaw.

 

Breeding heifers also met a good trade, with the best bulling heifers selling a shade more than store value.

 

Topping trade was a Simmental breeding bull from Kirleton House at £1,950, followed by a Limousin cow with a bull calf at foot, from Borthwick Mains, which sold to £1,680.

 

On the same day a large entry of 6,489 attracted a full ring of buyers. Topping the trade at £70 a head was Suffolks from Hawthorns and closely followed by Texels from Clarghll at £68.50 a head.
