Special store cattle sale achieves £1,600 high

Hexham and Northern Marts held the first of their five special autumn prize show and sales of store cattle and suckled calves with the show and sale for Charolais and Continental cross suckled calves.

Show judge Mr F Murray, East Horton, Wooler awarded the overall champion to Messrs Longlands, Rusheylaw, Birtley with a 12 month Charolais x steer which went on to sell at £1,660.

Reserve champion was awarded to a 12 month British Blue x steer from Messrs Robinson, Bog Hall, Capheaton which sold at £1,350

Two year old cattle topped at £1,540 for Limousin x from Old Deanham, Cambo. The 18 month class peaked at £1,510 for Charolais x steers from Colwell Hill, Elsdon. The ten month and under class peaked at £1,170 for a British Blue x steer from Bog Hall Capheaton.
