Stirling Bull Sales 2013: Overall Limousin champ goes to Newhouse Black Gladstone

The overallchampion and winner of the Mac-Min Perpetual Trophy is the junior champion (Lot576) Newhouse Black Gladstone handled by Brian Wills, Forfar. Forward by Boband Kay Adam, Glamis, Gladstone is by Hudscales Bigboy which was bought for19,000gns at Carlisle in 2007 where he was the reserve champion, and isout of Newhouse Divine. Gladstone has 99% Limousin genetics and despite Blackbeing in his pedigree name, he is five generations away from black genetics onhis mother’s side.
In reserveScottish Judge Willie McLaren tapped out David and Ronald Dick’s Ronald Golfer (Lot 526)by Sarkley Cromwell and out of Ronick Ufonde. This homebred bull has good widthand shape and hasn’t been shown anywhere else before. The Dick’s have forwardeight bulls at the sale, so it will be interesting to see how they get on.
Judge WillieMcLaren, who has 90 pedigree Limousins at his home farm in Kirriemuir, said hischampion pick was his kind of bull. “There was a good show of commercial bulls,with tremendous tops and ends.
“Thechampion was the kind of bull we would use on our cows and was an easy winner,”he said.
