STIRLING BULL SALES 2015: Commercial Limousin trade tops at 10,500gns

In a sale with very much a commercial undertone 62 Limousin bulls sold to average £4,625.00 topping at 10,500gns.

Leading trade was Maraiscote Idol from Ian Nimmo, Bogside Farm, Lanark. This second prize-winning May 2013-born bull is by the prolific sire Goldies Comet and is out of Maraiscote Bop, a Normande Urquhart daughter. Carrying a Beef Value of LM+46, the purchaser was H MacKay, Wester Tomloan,Ardclach, Nairn.
Limousin 10,500gns Lot 518

Second top price of the day was the 9,000gns paid for Spittalton Ionesco from Andrew Burnett, Upper Spittalton Farm, Blair Drummond, Stirling. This bull had earlier been placed as the overall supreme champion at the pre-sale show by the Judge Alastair MacNab, Dingwall who runs the Alagils Herd.
Lot 483 9,000gns

The champion bull, born in April 2013, is got by the French AI sire Bolide and is out of Spittalton Unison, by Ronick Jalopy. With a Beef Value of LM+30, he headed south when purchased by LD Carr, Upper Higham, Northamptonshire.

Mr Nimmo enjoyed a good sale day all round and sold Maraiscote Iggypop for 8,000gns to William Thompson, Hilton of Beath, Fife. This bull is another by Goldies Comet and is out of the Tyddyn Mei-sired Maraiscote Allie.

He also sold Maraiscote Ike at 6,500gns who is by the Irish-bred Rocky son, Macschoice Chris, and out of the Virginia Andy daughter Maraiscote Doreen. July 2013-born, he sold to B Buchan, Fraserburgh.

Also at 8,000gns was Elrick Inca from Michael Massie, Mains of Elrick, Ellon. April 2013-born, this bull is by Craigatoke Dundee (by Haltcliffe Underwriter) and is out of Elrick Flash, a Wilodge Vantastic daughter. Purchaser was Messrs Cameron. The similarly-bred Elrick Icon sold for 7,500gns to J Lyon, Little Kilchattan, Kingarth, Isle of Bute.

Securing a bid of 6,500gns was reserve junior champion Springsett Islander from Dougie McBeath and Sarah-Jane Jessop, Stirling. By Hafodlas Garnedd, he is out of Blairpark Utopia, a Ronick One daughter. July 2013-born, this young bull calf sold to Messrs Cadzow, Duncrahill, Pencaitland, East Lothian.
Lot 568 6,500gns

Another at 6,500gns was the senior March 2013-born bull, McInnes Igolo, consigned by Ashley McInnes, Cowick Farm, Goole. By Strattons Donis, he is a heifer’s calf out of McInnes Florence (by Vagabond), and now heads to BG and J Abbott, Duich Farm, Isle of Islay.

Redpath Farms, Bowmont Court, Kelso sold Redpaths Indigo for 6,000gns to J and J Wylie, Knockhouse Farm, Dunfermline. This Ampertaine Foreman son is out of Redpaths Classy, a Roundhill Ufestin daughter, and carries a Beef Value of LM+42.

Also at 6,000gns was Grahams Iceberg from Mr and Mrs RJ Graham, Bridge of Allan, Stirling. An embryo calf by the German polled sire Tigris, he is out of the Jersey-sired Nova, dam of the noted bull Samy. New owner is J Paterson, Kildarroch Farm, Newton Stewart.

Leading the trade for Limousin females at 4,000gns was the homozygous black and polled December-2012 born heifer Aintree Hallieberry from Steve Jones and Richard Pilkington, Shordley Hall Farm, Wrexham. Sired by Kajo Responder, she is out of Belldoon Dutchess, a Cole Magnum daughter and sold in-calf to Goldies Forever Black.
