Strathisla in-lamb Suffolks sell to 10,000gns
The dispersal of the Strathisla Suffolk flock on behalf of Robbie Wilson at Carlisle saw prices rise to the 10,000gns for one of the ‘best ewes ever bred at Strathisla’, the Glenhead Golden Phoenix daughter FNV:N85. She is dam of the 20,000gns Spielberg who was reserve champion at the Royal Highland Show this year and is out of FNV:J88 and has been scanned carrying twins to Ballynacanon Big Den. She sold to JM Stewart, Co Down Northern Ireland.
Next in the money at 8,200gns was an ET sister to the 48,000gns Dylan Thomas. FNV:L60 is by Strathisla Schumacher and out of a Glenhead The Mccoy daughter FNV:C92. She is dam of the 9,000gns King of Kings and sold in-lamb with twins to Ballynacanon Big Den. She headed home with JC Innes and Sons, Huntly, Aberdeenshire.
Topping prices for shearling gimmers was a 6,200gns bid for FNV:12:100 a Rookery Rooney daughter out of a Lakeview Leeroy daughter. This one sold in-lamb with twins to Strathisla Spielberg and headed home with S Sufferin, Co Londonderry, Northern Ireland.
Then at 5,000gns was the top price paid for ewe lambs for FNV:13:103. This Strathisla Stifler daughter is out of a dam sired by Strathisla Schumacher and is a ET sister to the earlier selling 8,200gns ewe FNV:L60. She sold to R and S Hiddleston, Dumfries.
Averages 47 ewes, £1,853.81; 62 shearling gimmers, £1,581.77; 60 ewe lambs, £1,266.82; three stock rams, £1,435.00. (Harrison and Hetherington)
