Strong pedigree and commercial trade for Salers

Trade for pedigree and commercial Salers exceeded expectations at Castle Douglas last weekend when prices reached 6,000gns twice for two pedigree bulls.

Top priced pedigree female trade fell to one of the first lots of the day, Cuil Eleanor from Graham and Colin McClymont, Cuil Palnue. She sold for 4,400gns to Alan Howatson, Newton Stewart.

Commercial trade at the annual premier show and sale was described as “electric” by auctioneers Walletts Marts with a pair of in-calf Salers crosses selling for £2,250 from Mains of Penninghame.
