Kerry Hill ram leads trade at Worcester
Kerry Hill sheep topped at 4,050gns at the Society’s 117th annual sale Ludlow Market, Shropshire, last week (Saturday, 2 September), with clearance rates hitting 82%.
Leading trade was a first prize yearling ram from P Hambleton, Ashbourne, Derby. Buyer was JAD and PM Owens, Woodhouse, Leominster.

Judge Pam Chilman with Sion Jones and his champion ram that made 3,320gns
Next best, and selling for 3,320gns, was the day’s champion: a three-year-old ram shown by SA Jones, Frongoy, Aberystwyth and bred by FW Jones and Son, Plaish Park, Church Stretton. He caught the eye of Messrs KR and MA Donald, Purclewan Mill, Ayrshire.
Messrs Donald also took the top price yearling ewe with a bid of 750gns guineas for the first prize yearling which was sold by VT and SA Hamer, Llanidloes.
Meanwhile, ram Lambs peaked at 900gns with an entry from Mr J S Croose, Marlbrook, who also headed ewe lamb trade at 400gns.
Averages: 110 yearling ewes, £221; 69 ewe lambs, £179; 10 aged rams, £660; 30 yearling rams, £628; 15 ram lambs, £311; 15 older ewes, £165. (McCartneys).
