Stirling bull sales: Limmy bulls sell to 8,500gns
Commercial buyers drove trade in the Limmy ring on Monday (17 October), with 40 bulls averaging £4,945, up by £393 on the year and with a 67% clearance.
Sale leader for a second year in a row with a call of 8,500gns was a lot from Bruce Goldie’s herd.
May 2015-born Goldies Lancelot was awarded overall reserve supreme champion and reserve junior champion and is by Foxhillfarm Irishlad.

He is out of the prolific dam Goldies Vitality and was purchased by Messrs Richardson, Ireland.

The Goldies herd also topped the offering of females later in the day when the November 2014-born Goldies Fantastic-sired heifer Goldies Jackie made 5,000gns.
Taking the second top bull price of 8,200gns was Spittalton Lewis from local breeder Andrew Burnett, Blair Drummond, Stirling.
March 2015-born Spittalton Lewis is by Maraiscote Gigolo, a Goldies Comet son, and is out of the Dyfri Tanner sired Spittalton Erica. He was purchased by JA Lambie and Sons, Auchterarder, Perthshire.

Seven Spittalton bulls sold to gross 37,400gns, with further prices attained including bulls at 7,200gns and 6,500gns
Next in the money was the 7,200gns Spittalton Liam from Andrew Burnett. This March 2015-born calf is by the Objat son Dinmore Hitman and is out of the home-bred Spittalton Faith.
Sporting some good performance figures, Spittalton Liam, who had a beef value of LM+45, was purchased by MJ Agnew, Stranraer.
Lifting the overall supreme championship at the pre-sale show, and also the junior championship, was Allanfauld Ludo from Archie and John MacGregor, Allanfauld, Glasgow.

May 2015-born Ludo is is by Knockcroghery Hero and sold for 7,000gns to WJ and P MacKenzie, Ross-shire.
Commenting on his champion, the pre-sale judge, Johnny Aitken, said: “This bull is long, good on his legs, has a great top, lovely fleshing and a good end. He is a bull that would suit both a pedigree and a commercial job.”
Also at 7,000gns was Anside Looper from Mr and Mrs S Irvine, Braehead Farm, Drummuir. This April 2015-born calf is by the herd’s stock sire Powerful Irish and is out of Normande Bouquet.
At Carlisle two days earlier a Powerful Irish son from the Irvines sold for 12,000gns. Purchasing Anside Looper was A and M Robertson, Ballycurrie Farm, Isle of Bute.
