Stirling: Simms led by Islavale sire at 28,000gns

A top call of 28,000gns and nine five-figure calls came from the Simmental ring at Stirling on Tuesday (18 October) as a smaller entry on the year met a fast trade.

Islavale Magnum from Stewart Stronach, Berryleys, Keith, topped the trade. The sought-after Islavale pen produced five of the top nine prices on the day.

Magnum is a March 2021-born Team Celtic son out of the Atlow Dixon daughter Islavale Harper.

He is semen-tested with a long line of excellent (Ex) cows on his dam’s side, a terminal sire index (TSI) of +82 and a self-replacing index (SRI) of +94.

He sold to Aberdeenshire pedigree outfit Delfur Farms, Dundurcas Farm, Rothes.

Next, at 20,000gns, was Denizes Monty from the Barlows, Four Oaks, Leyland. Monty was the only offering from the Barlows but impressed again after a junior Highland Show championship.

He is by the Dinton Nautical son Denizes Hamish and out of the Auchorachan Wizard daughter Trixie-belle.

His SRI average on 19 calves is +85. He crossed the water to Northern Ireland after a winning bid from HJW and JC Moore, Beragh, Omagh.

Islavale was back in the money at 18,000gns, this time with the Corskie Highlander son Mint. He goes back to Dirnanean Bradley and is out of the Islavale Echo daughter Amber.

He sold with a strong +6 milk figure. 

Delfur Maverick sold to the Crudie Farming Company, Arbroath, Angus, for 16,000gns. This dark red bull saw Delfur Farms back in the action, this time as a seller.

Maverick is from an easy calving line going back to Auchorachan ACDC and the Islavale Frontier son Woodhall Instinct.
