Tight entry of cull stock at Sedgemoor

Greenslade Taylor Hunt reported a tight entry for the time of year of 147 cull stock, which met a much improved trade.

All grades were up 4p/kg to 8p/kg, helped by an improved show but definitely more keenly sought.

Top was 154p/kg for a Ruby Devon from Messrs J A and S K C Lindley. Others more than 150p/kg were a shapely red Limousin at 153.5p/kg from Messrs J E F and K F Stephens and 151.5p/kg for another very smart black Limousin from Mr A G F Lockyer. Better meat sucklers met 140p/kg plus.

Good cows met 130p/kg plus. Half meat types met 120p/kg plus.

Sucklers sold to ÂŁ1,168.99 for a grand 841kg Simmental from Messrs M D and G J Curtis. Another Simmental from Mr F R Butt at ÂŁ1,161.45. Other best cows made ÂŁ1,000 plus.

BLACK AND WHITE cows sold to 140p/kg for a British Friesian from Messrs A J Gay and Son, who sold another at 131p/g.
