UK Limousin breeders snap up French genetics at KBS sale
A number of UK breeders were in spending mood at the recent KBS Genetic Limousin sale at Brive la Gaillarde, France, last weekend.
Biggest spenders of the day were Messrs Redden and Renton of the Meadowrig herd, Lamberton, Berwickshire, who bought both the top price male and female at the sale.
Top priced male on the day was 11 month old bull Festival from the Champeval herd. This one is by Celestine, himself an Objat son, and is out of Becassine, a Nectar daughter. He sold for E16,500.At E13,500 was Frou Frou, a bull which sold to Alan Jenkinson for the Whinfellpark herd, Cumbria. This one is by Casimir and out of Manille, a Grigou daughter.
Top in the females was Fatima, an October 2010-born heifer by Dandy out of Tocade. She was bought for the Meadowirg herd at E12,800.
Selling for E5600 was Fee, a Colonel son out of Tartine, an Ouragan daughter, when she also joined the Meadowrig herd.
At E5400 was Fictive, a heifer by Blageur, himself a Sauvignon son, out of Datcha, a Scotch daughter. She went to Messrs Dick for the Ronick herd, Stirling.
And at E4000 and also selling to Meadowrig was Facetie, a Bibi daughter which goes back to Sympa’s dam Operette on her maternal side.
Then selling at E3600 was Farandole, a Bruus daughter out of Comptine, an Artiste daughter. She goes back to Nova, dam of Samy, and sold Mr Whitley, Wales.
