Well known auctioneer joins H&H

30 years of auctioneering experience will be joining Harrison and Hetherington next month, as Simon Draper takes the post as auctioneer and livestock manager at Kirby Stephen Mart.

Joining at the start of the busy autumn sheep and cattle sales, Mr Draper will also be involved with sales at Lazonby, Middleton-in-Teesdale and St John’s Chapel, County Durham.

Mr Draper says he has wanted to come north for sometime to work in a prime livestock rearing area and particularly, for the leading livestock auctioneering company in the country.

Beginning his career as a trainee auctioneer in Worcester 28 years ago and until 2001 was senior auctioneer of all categories of stock with Rugby Livestock Sales. And for the past seven years he has been working as an auctioneer-director at Thame Farmers Auction Mart, during which time he resurrected the famous Bicester Sheep Fair.

Other roles include chairman of the Midlands and East Anglia Livestock Auctioneers’ Association and until recently represented the LAA as board directed for Assured British Meat (ABM).

Harrison and Hetherington’s, David Prichard says “We are looking forward to Simon joining the team at Harrison and Hetherington and we feel sure his broad experience within the industry will be invaluable to the team based at Kirby Stephen and the company at large.”
