Welshpool Charolais sell to 7800gns top call

Top price at yesterday’s sale of 103 Charolais bulls at Welshpool was a 7800gns bid for Gwenog Doodlebug froom John Howells. This Blelack Tycoon son is out of Gwenog Undlos, a Derryharney Outstanding daughter. He sold with a TSI of +32 and an SRI of +39 and was bought by Alun Williams, Aberdaron.

Following that at 6500gns was Caylers Dominic, a Caylers Bombadier son out of Caylers Bella a Kiladeas Lloyd daughter. He traded with a TSI of +12 and an SRI of +19 and sold to Tynybryn Farms, Tregynon.

Selling at 5800gns was the day’s reserve overall champion Gwenog Diamond from John Howells. This is another Tycoon son and is out of Gwenog Valentine, another Derryharney Outstanding daughter. He sold with a TSI of +21 and an SRI of +28, going to A L Roberts Bala.

Then making 5600gns was the day’s champion, Caylers Dominant from Caylers Charolais. This is by Fairway Soprano and out of Caylers Romona, a Killadeas Lloyd daughter. He has a TSI of +15 and an SRI of +18 and was bought by R P Morgan and Son, Dutlas.

Also selling at this money was Midas Dave from Roger Coppinger, he is an Oldstone Egbert son out of Midas Upperclass, a Balthayock Matthew daughter. He sold toH and B Powell, Rhayader, with a TSI of +25 and an SRI of +32.

A pair then sold at 5000gns, the first of which was Esgob Defender from G M Jones. This one is a Thrunton Virginian son out of Esgob Betsan, an Esgob Robin daughter. He has a TSI of +26 and an SRI of +35. Buying this one was A L Jones, Cwymtirmynach.

The second at this level was Brynffanigl Dynamo from R T Roberts, Abergele. Sired by Alsnow Almighty, he is out of Brynffanigl Betty, a Mowbraypark Urban daughter. He has a TSI of +20 and an SRI of +23 and went to A G Jones, Llangwm, Corwen.

And a trio also sold at 4800gns. First to sell at this was Trefaldwyn Director, a Loganbar Herdsman son out of Trefaldwyn Angel, a Tullygarley Rollerball daughter. He was bought by O L L Jerman and has a TSI of +26 and an SRI of +30.

Second at this price was Montgomery Dover, a Tullygarley Attaboy son out of Montgomery Betty, a Maerdy Ossie daughter. He has a TSI of +26 and an SRI of +27. The third at this level was a Thrunton Virginian son, Montgomery Detroit. He is out of Montgomery Pyramid, a Baggrave Loggo daughter. His TSI is +26, while his SRI is +39 and he was snapped up by L L Morgan.
