Welshpool Texels to 4200gns twice
A brace of 4200gns bids topped last Saturday’s Welsh National Texel sale at Welshpool, with both lots coming from the Caereinion flock of C E Pryce.
First to take this bid was the reserve champion, Caereinion Ronaldo, a Cambwell Laird son out of a dam by Summerwood Grand Union. This one was knocked down to Mr Owen, Sandlands, Wales.
Mr Pryce’s only other entry, Caereinion Rocky, matched this. He is by homebred sire 12,000gns Caereinion Number One and is again out of a Summerwood Grand Union dam.
At 2700gns was the best of the ram lambs sold, with this being Sportsmans Spitfire from
Messrs Boden and Davies. He is by 11,000gns sire Baltier Panther and out of a dam by 28,000gns Castlecairn Nile God. Buying this one was Mr Evans, Tran-y-Baccar.
Selling for 2400gns was Fostyll Star from Phillip Evans. This is a son of Mellorvale Reyna out of a dam by Knock Olympus and sold to Roy Hughes, Trefonnen.
Then at 2100gns was the pre-sale champion Procters Santander from Procters Farm. Sired by 50,000gns tup Haddo Ringleaer he is out of an Annan dam and sold to Mr Davies, Llwyncad.
Another from Procters Farm, Procters Sorcerer then sold at 1900gns, with this also being by Ringleader and out of an Annan dam.
Regular consignor and local man Steve Smith of the Penparc flock, had to wait late in the day before selling Penparc Sparky, a Tamnamoney Ned son out of a dam by Annan Jewel, for 1800gns to Mr Roberts, Conway.
FEMALES
A buoyant female trade saw a peak of 1800gns for the pre-sale female champion from Messrs MacTaggart, Rascarrel, with their Rascarrel Och Aye daughter selling to Messrs Chambers Twelve Oaks.
