Wills Bros take interbreed title

Well it’s been a cracking show for the Wills Bros who have just taken the overall title at this year’s Dairy Event and Livestock Show.

This year’s leader is Riverdane Astro Romance, a July 2004 Oseeana Astronomical cow bred by Mark Knutsford. She was bought earlier this year when Mark sold his whole herd of 200 cows to the Wills Bros.

But she’s no stranger to the show circuit, having picked up multiple prizes as a heifer including the All Britian heifer title in 2007 and the All Britain calf title in 2006. She gave just over 11,280kg as a heifer and is currently giving a little more than 60kg a day. She will next head to the National championships next February.

Taking reserve spot was Emma Murray’s champion Jersey Whiteoaks Jude Candytuft on her first show outing this year. This June 2004 female is fresh from calving at the end of last month and is currently giving 25kg a day.
