Worcester Zwartbles to 900gns
The Zwartbles Sheep Association Premier show and sale at Worcester recorded a top price of 900gns for Beech Hay Typhoon, a January born ram lamb from Rob and Vicky Grinnall.
This one has been male champion and reserve overall in the pre-sale show and was secured by Jake Dickin on behalf of his grandfather, W E Dickin, Halifax, Yorkshire.
Mr Dickin also bought a number of females on the day to a top of 250gns for a fourth prize shearling ewe from Heather Blease’s Berrington flock. He also paid 240gns for the second prize shearling ewe from local breeder Mrs Molly McConkey’s Barmoll flock.
Senior ewes were closely followed with keen bidding with a two year old Orchard ewe from Malcolm Short selling for 200gns to C Anderson, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Ewe lambs enjoyed a hotly contested trade peaking at 225gns for the first prize Dunsmore Tania a January twin from D V Davies, which went to new member D Roberts, Craven Arms, Shropshire, and the second prize lamb from the same vendor at 220gns to Gail Shrubsall, Faversham, Kent.
Shearling rams were a somewhat selective trade, but quality was well supported and the first prize shearling Brace Solar from Messrs Porter and Evans, Raglan, sold at 460gns to Mrs Roberts to join her three female purchases. (McCartneys).
