Chinese Jetour T2 SUV packs 254hp and on-demand 4×4
© James Andrews Another name has been added to the sizeable roster of Chinese-built SUVs that are available to buy in the UK. The Jetour T2 has been introduced by Oxfordshire importer Specialist Performance Vehicles and it offers 254hp and four-wheel drive for a sub-£50,000 outlay.
A 2-litre petrol engine is the sole power source, which is allied to seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and it puts power to the ground via a BorgWarner on-demand four-wheel-drive system.
Despite its chunky looks, there is no low range and towing capacity is pegged at 1.6t. That being said, it has a decent 220mm of ground clearance, a metal bash plate to protect the sump and a multi-terrain drive mode selector that sets it up for tackling different surfaces.

The inside is lavished with leather trim, heated and ventilated seats and a large touchscreen display. There is plenty of tech, too, such as adaptive cruise control, a 360deg camera and a blind spot warning system.
Prices for a regular T2 start at £44,000, with the Uplifted model seen here costing £49,950. For the extra outlay, buyers get wider body trim, 19in black alloy wheels, a roof rack and picnic basket incorporated into the rear door.
For those unfamiliar with Jetour, it’s a brand belonging to the Chery group – along with the likes of Jaecoo, Omoda and Lepas.
