Agritechnica 2011: Househam focuses on exports

Lincolnshire sprayer maker Househam had booked its biggest stand yet at Agritechnica and was showing off a high-clearance option ideal for European markets that require good clearance for maize and sunflower crop.

So instead of the previous 1.5m max boom height, the latest versions can now go up to 1.75m.

The company plans to push up the proportion of sales that go to export from 20% to 30-40% and is focussing on Eastern Europe. Farmers in places like Romania, Lithuania and Moldova, says managing director Rob Willey, are in the market for good-quality-but-basic sprayers. The company also says it plans to launch a telematics-equipped self-propelled sprayer for the 2012 LAMMA show that will be able to automatically send performance and running data back to the farm office.
