QJMotor is the latest Chinese outfit to target the UK with a range of keenly priced ATVs.

The manufacturer, which is part of the Geely Group that includes automotive brands Volvo, Polestar and Lotus, is an established name in the motorcycle world.

And Moto 73, its Chorley-based importer, has now decided to branch into agriculture, spurred on by the success of CF Moto.

The initial ATV offering runs from 300cc to 1,000cc, with more models on the way – including a UTV. All are fitted with QJ’s in-house-built engines, which have been designed in Italy since its acquisition of motorbike maker Benelli in 2005.

One model that might appeal to agricultural buyers is the SFA 600. It is propelled by a 577cc single-cylinder engine that sends 44hp/55Nm through the firm’s belt-type stepless transmission.

It is priced at £7,499 in Ag guise – metal racks, 12in steel wheels – and £8,299 in Pro spec, which includes heated seat and hand grips, Bluetooth and built-in Google Maps.

Both come with electronic power steering, independent rear suspension and four-wheel drive with lockable front and rear differentials as standard.

These will soon be joined by the SFA 550 Ag. For this model, weight drops from 450kg to 365kg, fuel tank capacity from 25 to 17 litres, and maximum torque to 45Nm – albeit from the same engine.

Sandwiching the workaday mid-rangers are a compact 289cc SFA 300 and big 976cc SFA 1000. The former runs a single cylinder, 23hp/27Nm engine and costs £4,950; the latter is propelled by a 93hp/95Nm V-twin and comes in at £10,499, which includes anti-lock brakes and a ruck of other nice-to-have features.

Moto 73 says it already has 15 dealers on board, with more coming, and 250 machines in stock or arriving imminently.
