Estates needing a six-seat UTV and wanting to “go green” with electric propulsion now have that opportunity with the introduction of just such a combination from Whanlong Electric Vehicle, commonly referred to as WEV.

While other manufacturers offer diminutive two-seat, larger three-seat and double-row, four-seat electric UTVs, the Chinese firm’s 35kW S80D Crew has seating for six.

To maintain range over fully laden journeys, it gets a bigger 35kWh battery than its stablemates – the three-seat S80 and the two-seat E30 – both of which pack a 17.5kWh unit.

For its tentative launch of these three models, WEV UK, a trading arm of all-terrain vehicle dealership All-4 based in Warwickshire, lists base models in each case.

The E30 with its manually tipped cargo box, rated at 309kg, has driver and passenger accommodation open to the elements save for a wash/wipe windscreen, roof panel and rear screen, while the S80 and S80D Crew have a semi-cab installation that adds half-height doors.

A full cab option for both “S” machines, complete with heater and air conditioning, is on its way later this year.

The larger models also get powered tipping for the 949kg (three-seat) and 349kg (six-seat) cargo box, which at 143cm is among the longest on larger UTVs, combined with a competitive 90cm width and generous 43cm-high sides, front and tailgate.

All three Whanlong UTVs sport a 1,580kg nose winch as standard, with instrumentation and entertainment provided by a touchscreen display featuring hands-free connectivity, Apple CarPlay and so on.

A reversing camera on the E30 and S80D Crew makes way for a 360deg system on the S80, while a tow bar and front/rear bumpers are standard across all three models.

In addition to All-4’s Midlands presence at Shenton, near Nuneaton, David Webb Engineering at Holton, near Wincanton, Somerset, sells the products, and dealers for other areas are being sought.
