Australian expert to shed light on pig reproduction
English pig producers are being given the opportunity to hear from Australian pig expert Paul Hughes at two events next month.
Dr Hughes who carries out research and the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) will reveal the latest knowledge on pig reproduction as part of two BPEX Two Tonne Sow events.
The two events entitled “Reproduction: What’s new?” will take place in Chippenham and Wetherby on the evenings of 9 and 10 May 2012.
Topics to be discussed at both meetings are gestation management (housing and feeding), seasonal infertility, feeding for litter size, and lactational oestrus. And other speakers include Mick Hazzeldine from Premier Nutrition and Dr Steven Jagger from ABN.
BPEX knowledge transfer manager Angela Cliff said: “New ideas and advice on how they can be put into practice are invaluable, as we move the English industry nearer to the two-tonne sow goal.
“We’re really looking forward to this update and are thrilled to offer producers the chance to talk with Paul directly.”
Both events will start with a hot buffet at 6pm and finish at 9.30pm:
• Wednesday 9 May at Stanton Manor Hotel, Chippenham
• Thursday 10 May at Wetherby Racecourse
