Big boy’s ‘Lego’ provides concrete grain walling

Lego caters for kids of all ages, but as far as we know it’s yet to crack the adult market.

That’s where Barnsley firm Naylor comes in. Its jumbo concrete blocks bear more than a striking resemblance to the Danish plastic ones, but at 1.2t a pop they’ll keep the biggest kids entertained for hours.

Called EasiWall, the blocks are used to build ultra-tough concrete walls in a matter of minutes. The Lego-style knobbles lock them together without the need for mortar, meaning the structure can be moved as many times as you want.

Possible agricultural uses include grain walling, silage pits and beet clamps. They will even form a waterproof barrier if silicone sealant is used on the joints.

The blocks are hauled into place using a removable shackle that locks into the centre of each block and they can be stacked up to three blocks high on ground without foundations. This goes up to five or more if there are solid foundations in place.

A standard block measures 1,500x600x600mm and there are two other sizes that allow you to stagger the bond. Prices start at £110/block for a 22-block load, but haulage costs mean this starts going up the further you are from Barnsley.
