British turkey promotes turkey meat during Games

British Turkey has teamed up with British Food Fortnight’s nationwide Love British Food Family Feast campaign to try to encourage consumers to cook with turkey all year round.
The event is part of the Love British Food (LBF) campaign 2012, which has been moved especially to coincide with the Olympics.
To celebrate the games, LBF is working with the LOCOG (London organising committee of the Olympic Games) to encourage the public to hold a patriotic family feast in Sure Start Children’s Centres, in disadvantaged areas of the country.
As part of the event a local chef will work with centre managers and families to prepare a Family Feast for everyone using the centre and the wider community.
A spokesperson from LBF said: “We want to reach some of Britain’s poorest and most disadvantaged families and communities and give them the opportunity to come together to celebrate all the excitement of the Olympics and Paralympic Games.”
In support British Turkey will be donating a hamper of fresh British turkey cuts to the first 24 centres taking part.
In addition, British Turkey is calling on all consumers to hosts their own feasts this summer.
Lorna Cousins, chair of the British Turkey Federation, said: “2012 is really a year of getting together with friends to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics. We are keen to encourage people to get into the spirit of things and organise their own fun events to celebrate with good food.”
